21st century has been characterized by knowledge-driven economies, rapid information exchanges and fast-moving century 21st century has been characterized by knowledge-driven economies, rapid information exchanges and fast-moving century landscape which have created new demands on education systems worldwide. In the light of changing needs in education system and developments in the global educational landscape, the governments manage to nurture the whole citizens, who can succeed in future. To achieve this, the education continues to play a pivotal role in meeting challenges and nurturing the citizens. The development of education relies heavily on the development of teacher education and teacher education is the base of education.21st century learners call for 21st century teachers who will play important roles in the development of national and global survival and growth. Internationally, all the debates and research in education have as its corollary the emerging consensus that we should nurture 21st century high-quality teachers to meet the fast changing situation.For the purpose of providing valuable information and reference for our teacher education reform, the paper analyses the teacher education model of Singapore, focusing on the initial teacher preparation and the development of 21st century teacher education model. It founds out the quality of teacher education of Singapore is premised on a partnership model with strong emphasis on values, skills, theory-practice nexus, assessment, pedagogies as well as pathways for professional development. During the process of teacher preparation, Singapore emphasizes on the role of school and education ministry, developing open teacher education, meanwhile, it focuses on life-long professional development ability, reflective practice and research, and the nexus between theory and practice. It is believed that many points regarding Singaporean teacher education model are worthy of studying and borrowing so as to improve our China teacher education.
