Affective Strategies Of English Teaching In Primary School

The aim of strategies of affective English teaching in primary school is to fosterthe students’ positive affection and reduce their negative emotions. Thus, the studentscan learn a foreign language in a comfortable and pleasant environment. According tothe primary students’ present affective states of English learning and existingproblems, the author puts forward the strategies of affective English teaching inprimary schools. For the accuracy and reliability of the research, the author takesthree research methods. The first method is questionnaire. The second one is interview.The third one is experimental research method.Through the questionnaires, the author knows the testees’ present affectiveEnglish learning conditions. They feel anxious, nervous, inhibited and so on inEnglish classes. Those negative emotions influence the testees’ behaviors andperformance in English classes.Through the interview, it’s known that some English teachers are not majoring inEnglish, however, they teach English in school. They do not want to make a researchabout English teaching. On the contrary, some English teachers who major in Englishare willing to make a study of English teaching or learning. While, the present limitedconditions prevent them from doing a research about English teaching. Therefore,their research in English teaching is not enough.In the experiment of this research, the strategies of affective English teaching arecarried out. By using SPSS18.0, the data of the pre-test and post-test of the twoclasses are reached. From the data, it could be seen that the experimental class’sEnglish test scores are much higher than the controlled class’s. It means that thestrategies of affective English teaching are effective.Based on the data analysis, several conclusions could be reached. First, strategiesof affective English teaching could stimulate and maintain the pupils’ learning interesttowards English. Second, pupils’ English learning is greatly improved throughstategies of affective English learning. Third, some pupils’ who have negativeemotions could also learn English well.From the above, we could know that strategies of affective English teaching haspositive effects on pupils’ English learning. Affect plays an important role in pupils’English learning.
