With the development of market economy and improvement of people’s living level, horse race becomes a new recreational sport. Being the carrier of horse-racing industry, racecourse has been matched by growing horse-racing industry; meantime it is also affected by the national and local government policies.Owing to broad market prospects of domestic and international horse-racing industry, the Chengdu JMH Sports City Investment Co. Ltd.(JMH Company) was founded in2010, and has been undertaken the project construction of the Wenjiang Racecourse. The grass tracks of the Wenjiang Racecourse initially formed in2012. In consideration of the problems arising during engineering construction of Wenjiang Racecourse, it is of practical significance to explore the developing trend of domestic and international racecourse for healthy development of the Wenjiang Racecourse.Project management model has been adopted by more and more industries for its unique value. In this article, by making use of related knowledge in project management, the author investigated the development of the horse-racing industry, and the market analysis and project management of racecourse at home and abroad. Then, from the perspective of project management, the author carried out SWOT analysis on the Wenjiang Racecourse project and existing problems, and put forward suggestions for improvement. The aim of this article is, based on the current situation of the domestic and international racecourse, to discuss the identification, analysis and countermeasures of problems in the project management of Wenjiang Racecourse, so as to ensure good performance of the JMH Company and successfully implementation of the Wenjiang Racecourse project.In the first part of this article, the author pointed out the background, intention and significance of the research on project management of the Wenjiang Racecourse, and then put forward the research thinking, methods and design. Secondly, the author stated and analyzed systematically the project management mode and marketing strategy of domestic and foreign racecourse referring to the relevant information. In the next part, the research intended to apply the racecourse project management in practice of the Wenjiang Racecourse. The author defined the project management of the Wenjiang Racecourse, determined the project positioning through the market opportunity analysis and SWOT analysis on the racecourse project, discussed the flexible enterprise organization and personnel mechanism and project constituents, and conducted the project benefit evaluation and risk assessment. Lastly, the author provided the project implementation and corresponding strategy of the Wenjiang Racecourse, and presented reasonable suggestions by analyzing the problems encountered during the project implementation.
