The JuniorMiddle School series were revised in2011. NECS (2011) states clearly thattextbooks should be compiled according to the course goals and teachingrequirements of the perspectives of NECS. From the autumn in2005, all the JuniorMiddle Schools began to use NSE in Foshan. The study made an evaluation to NSEfrom perspectives of NECS. It aims to help teachers know whether NSE can meetthe requirements of NECS as well as the needs of teachers and students. It is lack ofan overall evaluation to NSE based on the perspectives of NECS. Theoretically, thestudy will enrich the current studies of coursebook evaluation and can be a referencefor future studies. Practically, it will also help teachers make a better use of NSE andprovide students a great help with their studies.Based on studies of English coursebook evaluation at home and abroad, a textanalysis is made to NSE. Moreover,35English teachers and150students of Grade9from5Junior Middle Schools did the questionnaire and had an interview to find outthe problems in use and the author tries her best to make some teaching suggestions. The study provided a mixed-methodology (both qualitative and quantitative)evaluation of NSE. The study shows that NSE can meet the requirements of NECSand tries to develop the learners’ comprehensive language application ability. NSEcan meet the needs of teachers and students as well. However, some demerits arediscovered, such as the unevenly distribution of productive words, a large number ofactivities and difficult tasks, etc. They need to be further improved.
