In order to promote the development of students comprehensively and freely, theEducational Department of our country has published a number of documents to guidethe college students’ moral education, most of which mentioned the content of lifeeducation. In recent years, suicide and homicide events of college students oftenappear in newspapers and network. The reason is that some students indulge in thepursuit of material life, they can’t find the value and meaning of life. Another reason isthat the colleges and universities haven’t paid much attention to life education. Theaim of life education is to enhance students’ awareness of life, to improve the lifeability and life quality of college students. Domestic and foreign educationalinstitutions, experts and scholars, teachers in universities have studied life educationfrom the aspects of theory and practice. Hoping to provide some help for life educationin universities. This paper puts forward to some productive suggestion to the lifeeducation of contemporary college students by the means of literature, questionnaireand statistical analysis.First, the paper introduces the thoughts on life of Chinese and Westernphilosophers and Marx’s view of life, which are the theoretical basis and origin of lifeeducation. Second, the paper gives a definition of life education, which includes threecomponents: life consciousness education, life skill education and value of lifeeducation. And it has three positive values, individual value, educational value andsocial value. Third, In order to have a survey to the life education of contemporarycollege students, the paper makes an investigation in different specialties and differentgrades of three universities of Liaoning Province. According to the investigationresults, and consulting other surveys about the life education of university students, thepaper analyses the situation of college students’ life consciousness, survival skills andlife value and the problems existed in the process of life education. Finally, the paper draws a conclusion that college students’ life education is a systems engineering, weshould establish student-centered conception in teaching and studying progress;expand the contents of life education constantly; not only combine life educationcurriculum with specialty curriculum, but also combine in-class teaching with extra-curriculum; In order to give full play to the educational subject’s function, we shouldcombine the power of the school with family and society; In addition, we should alsosupervise the educational process and assess the educational result constantly.
