With the vigorous development of the service industry, the present market hasentered the era of the service competition. As people’s awareness of social service iscontinuously strengthened, enterprises pay more and more attention to the servicelevel provided for customers. Therefore, the service management theory that has beengradually developed is greatly valued by an increasing number of educationinstitutions. Due to the particular learning mode of self-study students, how to providebetter, more convenient exam services become the focus of self-study exam educationinstitutions. Geared to the needs of self-study students, it will effectively speed up thedevelopment of self-study exam in China to construct a self-study exam servicesystem based on the service management theory.Information construction plays an important role in improving work efficiency,business management, and service level and most institutions in the educationindustry in China have implemented the information management. Moreover,researches about service management and its implementations home and abroad havemade numerable achievements, including service operation management, servicemarketing, and service quality management, etc. However, most of these servicemanagement researches have mainly focused on customer satisfaction of onlineshopping and online trading services and the self-study exam service is relatively lessstudied. Considering the openness, adaptability, flexibility and diversity of theself-study exam, it is of vital importance to provide information services for students.Meanwhile, the supportive services beyond the management system is also significantto improve the self-study examinees’ satisfaction.In this paper, based on the existing management information system and otherindustries’ service concepts, the original system function is optimized to cater toexaminees’ needs. By constructing a service system for all the students andimplementing a secondary development, the overall service level of the self-studyexam information system management is improved. After the detailed theoryintroduction to service management and system development, the self-study examsystem is put forward. The system includes the pre-requirement analysis process, theoverall objective analysis, the need analysis of the system, the service function designand the supportive service. Moreover, the construction and development of the servicesystem is discussed. Finally, the paper concludes that through the cooperation withTianjin Self-study Exam Center, the developed information service system has beenapplied to the actual exam registration for self-study students, achieving good results and receiving the recognition both from Tianjin Self-study Exam Center and from theexaminees.
