What is to study independently in mathematics? What are the theoretical foundations operation tactics to this methodology? Why is it so important? These topics have been discussed and explored a lot among researchers. There is, however, less study on how to set up a study-supporting service system to help students be more efficient at studying independently. This system is in essence to have teachers guide students meticulously, help them set up some reasonable learning programs and strategies, and encourage them to bring their initiative into full play. Meanwhile, students put construction on what they have learned and accomplish their study according to plan by studying independently and cooperatively. Therefore, both teaching and learning are well coordinated to improve students' studies. This dissertation has discussed study-supporting service system emphatically from its implication and classification, to its effects on independent study in mathematics, to its basic principles, functional goal and essential features, to the way, evaluation criterion and operation programs to set up the system, and to analysis of key elements that are influential in this system. The purpose of this dissertation is not simply helpful to teach students how to study but urge them to sustainable development by learning individually and interactively.
