Nowadays, human beings put an increasing emphasis on developing economicand pursuing technical excellence, while ethics loses its status. The engineer’s ethics isspiritual internal virtue which they gain from long-term constant self-cultivatingduring the process of teaching. An outstanding engineer should have excellentprofessional skills and lofty professional ethics, and a perfect engineering ethicseducation should be an organic unity of superior skills education and high ethicaleducation. However, many universities stress students’ professional knowledge andprofessional skills, while ignoring students’ occupational moral education. Thissituation is caused by a variety of factors, at the macro level, traditional moral ideashave a deviation; at the middle level, there aren’t clear and constant policies of ourcountry; at the micro level, engineering career and engineers have particularity.To further improve the development of higher engineering ethics education, theauthor tries to review and study the previous studies and uses literature analysis andquestionnaire survey to research and analysis the present situation and existingproblems of higher engineering ethics education in our country. First of all, acomprehensive and in-depth analysis on the concept of higher engineering ethicseducation was made. The second, the present situation of higher engineering ethicseducation was understood mainly through the results of questionnaires.Questionnaires cover closed questions and open questions. The following is thespecific steps, firstly, give questionnaires to the students at Tianjin University andinvestigate engineering students’ awareness of engineering ethics, faculty quality,teaching methods and curriculum setting and so on. Then do statistical analysis of theclosed questions and collate and sum up the opened questions. This paper pointed outthe existing problems of higher engineering ethics and analyzed the causes. There isthe indifferent awareness of engineering ethics, the narrow way of engineering ethicseducation, the shortage of teacher’s team and the unsystematic content of engineeringethics education. Finally, the research focuses on how to promote higher engineeringethics education. According to the discussion, some advice and strategy was broughtout, such as, raise the status of engineering ethics education, do ethics certification,make more flexible methods, strengthen the quality of teacher’s team and completethe content of engineering ethics education.
