Owing to the long-standing system of urban-rural dichotomy of the resident status ofChina’s population, migrant farmers have mostly been regarded as a homogeneouscommunity in studies since1980s about social differentiation and stratification, and theincreasing diversity and discrepancy within this community and its emerging differentiationhas often been ignored in a static framework of social stratification. Not the same as others’research, my researchful target is not wage workers who earn their living exclusively bygetting employed but self-employed individual businessmen who own small amounts ofcapital in a community of institute of higher learning. This paper described that a peasant named Yang xiu-ge and his family membersmigrated from rural society to urban society under the dual-pressure of lacking agriculturalacreage and income. Now, this family is carring on printing trade in a community ofconcentrative institute of higher learning. This Community’s formation and its innerstructure have a profit-competition characteristic from governments at all levels. Face toevaluating indicator in present, government have transformed into a special departmentswith the “mandatory-private interest” nature. Governments at all levels expropriate farmer’sterra with a very low price. On the one hand, government attract merchant princes and largefunds. On the other hand, government using public power to house the facade of a shop onthe public land for seeking small traders’ rent. Once merchant princes came in, smalltraders would be kicked out immediately. Under such circumstances, small traders usemethod of self-exploitation to moil on. Unlike the traditional mode and modern mode, atransitional society has entered "economic dependence". At the same time,“power-basedeconomy” still plays a major role. In this social background, the “dependent personality” ofpre-modern society could not be broke through, concept about “private ownership” and“economic ethics” of modern society can not be developed.“Comeling” has broke through“conventional-directive economy” of aboriginal rural society. Yet, their spirit of capitalismwas suppressed in urban society.
