Data-analysis Based Study On The Efficiency Of High-level University Admission

The quality of accepted applicants affects the efficiency and effectiveness ofuniversity education directly. Therefore, the efficiency of university admissionsattracts high attention. How to get the best admission performance from existingresources and how to achieve the optimal result by more effective allocation ofexisting and potential admission resources? These are common problems currentlyfaced by universities in China, especially high-level universities. Thus, theexploration and research of methods and techniques to improve the efficiency ofuniversity admissions gains great priority.Providing detailed summarization of admissions from macro strategic level andmicro practical level, the thesis selects admission and propaganda strategies as theresearch objects for further research, which are independently controlled byuniversities in practice. Based on the comprehensive data of freshmen in TianjinUniversity in recent years and the quality assessment of such students, the study isconducted from the view of data exploration and analysis as well as the informationconcerned by students and parents and their ways of gaining it.Methods used in this study include interviews, modeling and analysis,questionnaire and others. To be specific, data collection, target definition, dataselection, data cleaning and preprocessing, data conversion, data characterization,modeling and adjustment, verification and evaluation, data mining, modelinterpretation and application are applied in the process of the research. Finally, asecondary school attention model is built, which reveals the relationship between thedistribution of high school students and the quality of enrolled students in universitiesunder current environment. It also helps to understand student concerns and thoughtsof universities, during high school especially in choosing university. Based on theabove research, a system improving the efficiency of admissions is established, whichnot only helps to improve the level of fine management of admission propaganda,optimize the allocation of propaganda resources, and improve the relevant dataintegration, analysis and utilization, but also provides support and reference for futuredevelopment and application of the essential data systematically. Conclusions madefrom the study can be directly applied in various aspects concerning university admissions, such as allocation of university admission resources, selection of targethigh school for propaganda, and design of comprehensive propaganda plan. Therefore,the study has direct value for admissions of domestic high-level universities andtheoretic value in instructing other common universities admissions.
