The Research On Event Operation Of Zhengzhou China International Shaolin Wushu Festival

Shaolin martial arts win a high admiration in Chinese martial arts. Zhengzhou belongs to one of the birthplaces of Shaolin martial arts, and the holding of Zhengzhou China International Shaolin Wushu Festival can be called a major event. From the first session to the last, the event has brought about a tremendous impact at home and abroad and brightened the martial arts history, making an indelible contribution to the popularization and development of martial arts. In this paper, some research methods have been used, such as literature, expert interviews and field visits, to conduct surveys on the event operation of Zhengzhou International Shaolin Wushu Festival, thus finding problems in the operation and proposing countermeasures, and further providing theoretical supports and references for scientific and orderly operation of sports events.The problems within event operation of Zhengzhou International Shaolin Wushu Festival are as follows.(1) A permanent establishment is lacked, so the committee should further rationalize the need of internal organs and clarify the division of responsibilities.(2) The festival’s media propaganda is supposed to be strengthened.(3) The festival is short of sufficient experience in market operation.(4) Papers report preparation needs significant improvements, as the present academic studies tend to be repetitive and lack of innovation.(5) Audience interactions are limited, resulting in unsatisfactory live atmosphere, and there exist inadequate exchanges between domestic and foreign athletes and martial arts enthusiasts.Development strategies for event operation of Zhengzhou International Shaolin Wushu Festival are as follows.(1) Improve the festival holding specifications, establish a permanent organization and further improve the organization structure.(2) Martial arts festival committee should diversify the media publicity ways.(3) The committee needs to further explore the new market-oriented and commercial approach through setting up a special agency specializing in the marketing operation.(4) Complete the preparation and evaluation of academic reports, and improve the paper quality further as well.(5) Try to make the live atmosphere merry and alive, strengthen the communications between domestic and foreign players, and reinforce the training of expertise.The following shows the main conclusions.(1) Year 2014 has marked the latest 10 th Zhengzhou International Shaolin Wushu Festival. During the years from 1991 to 2014, gradually, the event size and influences expand and its mode grows to maturity.(2) With the expanding global influences, the martial arts events have obtained certain achievements.(3) Having entered a boom phase, Zhengzhou International Shaolin Wushu Festival is still seized by slight shortages on some aspects.(4) Zhengzhou International Shaolin Wushu Festival enjoys important and far-reaching significance. Through in-depth analyses of Shaolin martial arts festival, the paper indicates the following practical recommendations. First, the event operation of Zhengzhou International Shaolin Wushu Festival should be more standardized and rationalized. Second, the festival needs to draw on the experience of other large-scale integrated events. Third, the festival should build brand events with clear positioning and healthy event system. The last but not the least, build the Chinese kung fu capital by learning from Confucius Institute model to creatie more favorable conditions for the holding of the future martial arts festival.
