At present, the doctor-patient relationship in China has become increasingly tense and medical disputes occur frequently.Extreme cases includes the murder of the doctor by the patient. The reasons are manifold. For example, China’s medical service systems are still inadequate; medical resources per capita are insufficient; the hospitals services lack humanistic care; the poor communication between doctors and patients and tense public opinion about the issue exist. Because of this, building a harmonious relationship between doctors and patients has become a top priority, which is also one of the priority areas of medical social work in hospital services. Medical social work, however, still in its infancy in China. In Mainland China, Medical social work practice focus on the realm of disease treatment and rehabilitation regression; however, fewer services are provided in other areas, such as the medical social work practice of constructing a harmonious doctor-patient relationship. The relative lack of practical application of research is not conducive to the development of China’s medical social work. Therefore actively carrying out all aspects of medical social work practice, giving full play to the social role of medical social work, exploring the medical social work practice of constructing the harmonious relationship are of vital significance in reflecting the humanistic care of medical and health services, promoting the healthy development of modern medical and health undertakings and improving doctor-patient harmony and social harmony and progress.This research sets NH hospital medical social work support project as the research object, is based on the social welfare theory and communication theory, and uses the method of participant observation, interview, direct intervention to reserch the medical social work practice of constructing a harmonious doctor-patient relationship. In conclusion, this research sums up the NH hospital medical social work practice from three aspects:macro - medium - microscopic method, introduces the different aspects of the practice, and finally puts forward the summary and recommendation.This research has four parts.The first chapter introduces the research background, interprets several relevant concepts and basic theories, reviews the related literature, and illustrates the research framework.Chapter two describes the background information about development of medical social work, explain the necessity of introducing medical social work in the building a harmonious doctor-patient relationship, and the summarizes the existing medical social work model and its limitations.Chapter three analyses NH hospital as an example. This part summarizs NH hospital medical social work practice operation from three aspects:macro - medium -micro step in the construction of a harmonious doctor-patient relationship. Then, in terms of medical social workers’ demand for hospital evaluation, image management, the improvement of a harmonious atmosphere between the departments, the economic and emotional support given by the families, medical relief training, community service, and the coordination of doctor-patient disputes and so on, this research elaborates on the practice of the medical social work, which orients to the harmonious doctor-patient relationship and its achievements, and explores the specific operation in practice and its application.Chapter four summarizes the traits of the harmonious doctor-patient relationship oriented medical social work practice, gives recommendations for its benign development, and also put forward the importance of this reference to this practice by the other medical social work team in mainland...
