Nowadays, the geography education in secondary school has a serious problem that is the weakening of physical science. We must resolve this problem, because this is not only the reform requirement of the basic education in China, but also the important mission for the upcoming geography curriculum reform in secondary school. Under this background, through my research. I affirm that it is a valid way to resolve the current issue if we use the physical geography specimens in secondary school geography teaching.The first chapter in this study reviews lots of literatures at home and abroad about the application of physical geography specimens. The second chapter introduces several basic theories of this study, such as situated cognition theory, learning theory of humanism, life education theory, some features and research methods of geography. Chapter three analyzes the feasibility that how to use the physical geography specimens in secondary school geography teaching. The study comes up with three aspects:the acquirement of physical geography specimens, the acquirement of teaching place, the judgment and discernment of physical geography specimens. This chapter also explores the method and strategy that how to use the physical geography specimens in secondary school geography teaching. The study shows three aspects: investigation method in the field, experiment teaching method, information technology assists the teaching with physical geography specimens, and some problems should be noticed when using the physical geography specimens. Besides, this chapter has another part. The study puts forward four principles when using the physical geography specimens in secondary school geography teaching:security, science, geography, student-oriented. The fourth chapter in this study analyzes how to collect the physical geography specimens, such as water sample, soil, air, plant, rock, and how to judge, how to discern, how to apply these specimens. The fifth chapter in this study shows two cases about how to use the physical geography specimens in secondary school geography teaching. After that, this part also analyzes and assesses these two cases.The final part discusses the problem of the study, for example, the innovation is insufficient, and some of the outcomes are very difficult to carry out. This part also prospects the future of this research, and puts forward some research contents in this field that researchers can pay attention to.
