In 2011, the latest English Curriculum Standards was officially issued by Ministry of Education of People’s Republic of China. The English Curriculum Standards reflects a new education philosophy and maintains some striking features. Firstly, it lays emphasis on ability-oriented education, student-centered class and the teaching process assessment. Secondly, it also focuses on creating fun and respecting the students’ individual differences in the learning process. Thirdly, it highlights the students’ personal participation, develops curriculum resources, and expands the students’ learning channels. All these would be more suitable for primary and secondary school students in China.English teaching for primary and secondary middle schools is an important stage of basic education. After entering the 21 st century, education in China has more deepening reform and development with the comprehensive development of economy and politics. However, there are still wide gaps of English teaching between the primary school and the middle school. What’s worse, quite a few students have begun to dislike English when they begin to study English at junior schools.Owning to the above, how to carry on the effective teaching and realize the smooth transition from primary schools to middle schools of different levels under the English Curriculum Standards is a must for English teachers’ further study.The study takes the English Curriculum Standards, Affective Filter Hypothesis, Humanism Hypothesis and the theory by Professor Lujiamei as the theory bases. It chooses Yixing Foreign Language School as its study object. It tries to analyze the situation and causes of the problems existing in the primary and middle school English teaching transition: the position of the primary school English class is not high. There are differences between the primary and middle school English Curriculum Standards; There are differences between the primary and middle school students’ psychologies. Through English Teaching in Grade Seven, we conduct the affective teaching, change the teachers’ education ideas and the students’ learning styles, and cultivate the students’ positive affective attitudes in order to improve students’ language knowledge and language skills. And we exchange the feelings and emotions with students, develop their interests, build up their confidence, strengthen their cooperation and broaden their vision by speaking the language. Its purpose is to promote the convergence of natural and efficient transition of primary school and middle school English teaching, to further improve their English learning foundation.Through the affective teaching in primary and middle school English teaching and the survey, we find that the necessity of emotional communication should be strengthened among students. By the affective teaching in primary and middle school English teaching and the experiment, we verify that the feasibility and effectiveness of the affective teaching, we also prove that the affective teaching has an obvious role in student’s self-confidence, will, spirit of cooperation and promoting learning.
