Practical writing is an important and widely used literary form in daily routine. To write it well is regarded as an indispensable writing skill in our writing ability. Our Chinese teaching should be related to life and go with the development of modern society. It aims to truly cultivate students’ language application and improve their Chinese quality. Its final focus is to help students form a sound personality and become a well-rounded person. Chinese teaching should on the one hand pay much attention to improve cultural quality, on the other hand focus on the practical language using for genuine improvement of Chinese quality and long-run development of students. In practical writing teaching, teachers should attach importance to pay attention to practical writing and apply practical writing teaching into ordinary Chinese teaching.The truth is that practical writing teaching is rare and has many problems in middle school Chinese class. There are many reasons for the situation, and lack of effective teaching method is the main reason. Thus, if not necessary, usually teachers just drop the idea of applying it. In order to turn the situation around,to make sure educate can receive basic practical writing teaching on High school stage, thus to read and more importantly to write common practical writing, the author comes up with a teaching design thinking based on the former research achievements. By applying backward design into practical writing teaching on the basis of curriculum standards, the inefficiency and even nullity of practical writing teaching can be solved.This paper mainly includes four parts. The first part describes the status of practical writing and the current situation of teaching design. It deals with the necessity of applying teaching design into the teaching of practical writing. The second part tells the implication of backward design and the reason of applying it. This part tells us what is backward design and why should we consider the application of backward design in practical writing teaching. The third part provides the procedures and analysis of specific cases of backward design in practical writing teaching. The fourth part depicts the value and plight of using backward design. Through the practical using in third part, the author concludes the advantages and the problems when using backward design in practical writing teaching.
