Preconception, Scientific preconception, Core idea, Fundamental concept, Big idea, Key concept, such concepts opened the prelude of concept research while many western scholars began to study the concept that as they realized the importance of concept in 1970 s. The 50 important concept revealed in prologue of "Full-time Compulsory Education Biology Curriculum Standard" highlighted the importance of teaching around important concept and urged Chinese scholars to study on important concept in 2011. However, current studies focusing on concept teaching and the analysis of biological important concept, especially in the perspective of historical evolution, achieved few results. Thereby, the author’s summing up the development of important concept in middle school zoology of our country and analyzed the important features of textbooks in various periods from the perspective of five zoology textbooks and four versions of the biology textbooks published since the founding of New China. This will provide some reference for textbook editors, offer some reference and enlightenment for frontline education workers and provide research thoughts and case study for follow-up researchers.The author reviewed the people’s education press zoology and database access since the founding of the high school biology textbooks in full text, summarized important concept in different periods, analyzed the connotation and exemplifications of the concepts of horizontal analysis, conducted comparative analysis among the arrangement, presentation and expression characteristics of important concept in different periods, which revealed that, since the foundation of New China, the core of the important concept from zoology text of classification, morphological structure and external characteristics to highlight the status of animals in the biosphere, and the structure of the human relations. Examples of concepts were simplified and enriched, the presentation of concept gradually achieved discipline integration, the expression changed from the traditional method of "action verbs + term" to the term "action verbs+ term " and describe the concept in various ways, the expression by illustrations, tables, and other more intuitive presentations gradually gains its popularity, presentation strategy is more diversified.
