Objective:Electroencephalogram (EEG) reflects the electrical activity of cortical neurons, In the very great degree, It reflects the functional status of the central nervous system which is also the physiological basis of speedquality. To investigate the development of the EEG of nomal school age children and adolescents, and to study the relationship between characteristics of the EEG and speed, to find the possible ways that can use the electrical characteristics to predict speed. Methods:In this paper, the object of study is 620 primary and middle school students who came from sichuan province in guangyuan city, the age is 6-16 years. Test them 50 meters with standard methods and quiet eye closure awaked electroencephalogramwhich collected by Nation9128W digital electroencephalograph produced in shanghai Nuo Cheng Company. To analyz the absolute power, relative power, Percentage of each lead energy and 50 meters results.Results:(1) Overall, normal children aged 6 to 16 in EEG of the absolute and relative power has significant age difference. Along with the age growth, the delta, theta, alpha 1 waves of absolute and relative power are reduced. The absolute power of Beta waves are also reduced, but its relative power are increased. The absolute and relative power of the alpha 2 wave are increased, which the period of rapid growth is 6-llyears and 13-15years. (2) Children aged between 6 and 12 years only the delta absolute power and total power have significant gender differences, teens aged 13 to 16 of the absolute and relative power are no gender differences. (3) Delta and theta waves have been mainly showed from 6 to 16 in temporal region. The alpha 1 waves were mainly showed from 6 to 12 in occipital region, but, after the age of 12, the temporal region became dominant. The alpha 2 waves were mainly showed from 6 to 8 in temporal region, but, after the age of 8, the occipital region became dominant. The advantaged wave in Frontal and temporal regions are always delta waves from 6 to 16.and the mainly wave in central region are delta from 6 to 14, then, formed alpha advantage after 15 years. The mainly wave in parietal region are delta from 6 to10,then, formed alpha advantage after 15 years. However, alpha wave became dominant in the occipital region from 6 to 16 years old. (4) The speed of both boys and girls aged between 6 and 12 years with age increasing, the boy at the age of 12 after speed continues to improve, but the pace of girls at a standstill. Boy speed of natural growth for 6-15 years old, girl for 6 to 12 years old; Boys speed sensitive period for 6-10 and 12-14 years old, female speed sensitive period for 6 to 9 years old. (5) Aged 6 to 12, the correlation coefficient between a 2% and 50 meters that from all children, High speed and Low speed childen is -0.51,-0.64 and -0.52 respectively. In addition, the correlation coefficient between θ/β and 50 meters that from all children, High speed and Low speed childen is 0.51,0.71 and 0.52 respectively. Conclusion:The brain development of normal children has obvious age span, it has rapid growth and 6-10 years old for speed is the best period of development. The speed of normal children could be predicted, according to the alpha 2 relative power and theta/beta ratio, howere, the development of the nervous system has little impact to the teenagers.
