The defense-offense transition speed in modern football match is becoming much faster. Meanwhile, the quality and pace of transitions made World Cup a special event. At times transitions can be the key to success in football as their execution can be the difference between victory and defeat. In this essay, I employ document method, observation method, and logical analysis to research the regulation of transition of attacking and defensing in 48 matches during elimination phase from 18 to 20 FIFA World Cup and the conclusions are as follows:1. There is no significant difference in comparison of actual playing time and times of transitions from 18 to 20 FIFA World Cup.2. In 20 FIFA World Cup the goals scored by rapid attack in defense-offense transition are much more than the goals scored in 18 FIFA World Cup.3. The main way of gaining a ball is intercept a ball and tackling while defense being changed into attack in FIFA World Cup. In terms of dealing with the ball after getting a ball, dribbling is much more be used in front and middle field in 20 FIFA World Cup compare with 18 FIFA World Cup. Times of forward passes in front and middle field are much more used in 20 FIFA World Cup than 18 FIFA World Cup.4. In terms of losing ball, the number of being broken a ball while passing a ball is the highest. Stealing is less happened in back field in 20 FIFA World Cup than 18 FIFA World Cup. The rapid defense in front field is much more happened in 20 FIFA World Cup compared with 18 FIFA World Cup.
