Teaching materials, is an important medium for teachers and students to carry out teaching activities smoothly and effectively, but also embodies the curriculum standard, educational idea, educational idea, teaching goal, content of education stipulated by the state. As an important resource in school education and teaching activities, it plays a great role in school education, and has a immeasurable influence even in the whole education. The teaching material determines the quality of education in a large extent, thus affecting the national quality, and influencing a country’s comprehensive national strength. Junior middle school sports and health discipline is an important curriculum in the compulsory education stage, which affects the subject, the school physical education and the development of each of the middle school students. With the new curriculum reform and the "One guide multiple parts" policy, the teaching material diversification has become an irreversible trend, the scientifically and objectively evaluation of the teaching materials is an important guarantee to standardized materials market and to improve the quality of the teaching materials. So, there is an urgent need to formulate a scientific and objective junior middle school "Sports and Health" teaching material evaluation index system, which guarantees the junior middle school "Sports and Health" the textbook evaluation working smoothly.This paper has analyzed many aspects of the three versions of junior middle school sports and health textbooks whose are approved by the Ministry of Education in 2012, with the present stage national education policy and "Compulsory education sports and health curriculum standard" as a guide,with the curriculum and textbook evaluation theory of evaluation, education, sports, psychology as a foundation,with the advanced theory and the experience of present textbook evaluation and the research theory and results of other disciplines textbook evaluation as a reference, with literature method, survey method, comparative text analysis method, logical analysis, expert ranking method, mathematical statistics and other methods as a combination of research methods, has established the curriculum and textbook evaluation index system of junior middle school "Sports and Health". This study was designed to provide foundation for evaluating the junior middle school sports and health textbook objectively and scientifically, also to provide reference for choosers(such as education administration departments, schools, teachers, etc.) of teaching materials. Furthermore, textbook compiling and publishing groups and individuals can obtain feedbacks provided by the user through the evaluation index system, then modifying teaching materials, thus improving the quality of teaching materials.
