In the process of deepening curriculum reform, to carry out care and love education which is based on students’ developments, not only constructs a system of Chinese excellent traditional culture education, cultivates and practices the socialist core values, but also reflects the whole society’s requirements on cultivating talents with the “moral principle”. To strengthen the study on humanistic care during the teaching process of portraits is to put the “moral principle” into practice, as well as to response to the need of our nation, to respect the growth of student’s individual life, to cultivate students’ feelings of humanistic care.This research adopts the Caring Education Theory and Constructivist Learning Theory of Nel Noddings as guidance to carry out teaching practice activities as well as to design the portrait unit research courses which are integration of arts and humanistic care and suitable for junior high school students, thus to let the students experience the complete process of creation as an artist, to fulfill the independent construction of knowledge during the process of mutual cooperation and in-depth study, to cultivate the abilities of portraits creation and arts study; to achieve the goal of “to improve skills with emotion”, to help the students comprehend the care and love of human being and life from the portraits, to care and love the growth of student’s individual life, to provide a new perspective and practical reference of portraits teaching for arts subject of junior high school students. The main contents of this research are as follows:Firstly, this research defines and interprets the fundamental concepts of “portrait” and “humanistic care” by adopting the literature research method, elaborates the Caring Education Theory and Constructivist Learning Theory of Nel Noddings, analyzes the current study situation of “portraits creation teaching” and “arts and humanistic care” both at home and abroad. Moreover, this research masters the humanistic care situation of portraits teaching in junior high schools by adopting qualitative research method, thus to find out the existing problems and to solve them.Secondly, in order to solve these problems, this research designs experimental subjects as unit study teaching program “a mind trip to arts--to learn portraits from the great masters” by integrating action research method and Constructivist Learning Theory as well as Caring Education Theory. After defining the goals of cultivating students, the specific content, the implementation process, teaching steps, this research conducts teaching experiments which are composed of six units as “search for arts--learn to appreciate, approaching arts--choose one great master, study arts--appraise the great master, facsimile the works--learn from the great master, create your own portrait--express emotion, evaluate arts--share your creations”. After the teaching experiments, this research sums up the experience of the effects to cultivate concepts of creation of students during the process of the independent construction of knowledge, to form the quality of humanistic care.At last, this research points out the subjective and objective limitation of the process of conducting teaching experiments, proposes further research prospects, and raises the follow-up reflection.
