This paper attempts to examine the children’s peer culture through semiotics, and adopt the perspective of the bottom-up to explore the formation mechanism of peer culture and cultural style. Therefore, we can easily reveal the original ecology of cultural forms with context analysis when interpret peer culture through semiotics, and help us to interpret the child and think and practice the children’s education better. The paper considers that the peer culture is the collective construction of children, the self-expression of children through signs and a collection of children’s willingness to express themselves. This paper mainly study for kids who are in top classes of kindergarten, using non-participant observation to collect the information and materials form the children’s living world, through the combining methods of text analysis and cultural context analysis to start discussion. The study is based on the basic principles of semiotic to analysis the signs of peer culture, and to summarize the sign crisis in peer culture according to the contemporary context. Notation system of peer culture construct a image of the world,where is "fairy innocence", but it has its particularity in the contemporary context. The peer culture constructed by children have been influenced by many factors, and these factors work on the formation mechanism of peer culture, including groups of children who are based on their characteristics and abilities to resist the mainstream culture, but also the incorporation of the mainstream culture of peer culture, but also the incorporation of peer culture to mainstream culture. Through the inspection of the sign systems and formation mechanisms of peer culture, the style of peer culture become clearer, and its unique style and spirit begin to draw the distinct outline of cultural ecology. The full text is divided into three parts, include introduction, body and conclusion.The introduction mainly includes the purpose and significance of this research, the definition of the keywords, the relevant review of peer cultural researches, research methods and content introduction, etc. in this paper.The body part is divided into five chapters to start on:The second chapter mainly summaries the basic principles of semiotics through the textual analysis, carding the academic definition of signs and semiotics and sign classification among educational circles, combining the relevant theories of ideographic signs and sign explanation to deconstruct notation system.The third chapter mainly analyzes peer culture from the perspective of semiotics, according to the self-characteristics and current situation of peer culture to explain from the theories of image signs, language signs and their man-made pure signs. Finally, combining the context to analysis and summarizes the sign crisis faced by contemporary peer culture.The fourth chapter analyzes the formation mechanism of peer culture, including four parts: the statute of the social and cultural context, the impact of adult literacy, the promotion of the mass media and the exchanging among peers.The fifth chapter analyzes the unique style of peer culture under the contemporary context, and it draws characteristics of peer culture form the aspects of style and spirit. Its style is mainly reflected in the aesthetic perspective of children, children’s painting, children’s games, children’s toys and children’s literature, its mainly spirits are the primarily poetic self-expression of children.The sixth chapter discusses the enlightenment to children’s education based on the peer culture, including 4 parts which focuses on the peer culture in children’s education, education needs to arouse the children’s vitality, the dominant position of children in education, and children are understood and respected in education.The conclusion discusses the current situation and styles of peer culture, and considering that peer culture as a subculture reflects the conflict and integration in the contemporary cultural context, and introspecting the limitations and shortcomings of this study, and making clear the direction of future research.
