With the rapid development of information technology, computers and networks have penetrated into all aspects of economic development and social life. Facing with an increasingly fierce competition of comprehensive forces,all countries in the world attach great importance to the development of technology in education. The party schools, which are under the direct leadership of the party committee, are major centers for educating and training party members and cadres. As an important part of China’s education system, Party schools at all levels also require the application of technology. As a staff of Hunan Provincial Party School, the author studied the modern distance education model of party school, illustrated by the case of Hunan Provincial Party School as an example.In the beginning, the author made a comprehensive introduction to research ideas of modern distance education model of party school from background, significance, research objective and content, methods and research specialties and innovations. Then, the paper comprehensively reviewed the literature of the development and concept of modern distance education, the situation of distance education at home and abroad, modern distance education model, modern distance education of party school. And then, the paper discussed the theoretical bases of modern distance education model of party school, including constructivist theory, adult learning theory and situational learning theory. Based on the above discussion, the main part of the article focused on building four modern distance education models and their application strategies for different learners and their different learning environments. Firstly, it is rural grassroots model, in which strategies of grasping the opportunity, strengthening collective learning, taking full advantage of the new and old party members and encouraging them to strengthen cooperation, and carefully preparing curriculums according to the actual needs are proposed. Secondly, it is urban community model, in which strategies of combining community education and self-education, meeting the spiritual and cultural needs and solving practical problems, combining traditional methods and modern methods, making full use of community culture are proposed. Thirdly, it is organs and units model, in which strategies of making full use of peer support and strengthening collaborative learning, miniaturizing learning resources to achieve ubiquitous learning, adopting credit system to help the implementation of distance learning are proposed. Fourthly, it is enterprises model, in which strategies of combining theory and practice, strengthening the effectiveness of party school distance education, setting up personalized elective courses to meet the needs of different party members and cadres, implementing mentoring system are proposed. Finally, the paper reflected the study, pointed out the shortcomings of this study and subsequent research prospects.
