“Civilization History Conception”and The History Curriculum Of Senior High School

In response to the reform of history education, this paper take the present situation of the civilization history system of our high school history curriculum as the breakthrough point and the history system of civilization of Fernand Braudel’s <Grammaire des civilization> as reference. The author is intended to build a high school history curriculum system under civilization history conception by integrating some contents of our compulsory history textbooks republished by People’s Education Press, from the angles of compiling and teaching.Specifically, the paper is divided into three parts:In the first part, the author interprets Braudel’s “civilization history conception”,analyzes <Grammaire des civilization>, and explores the history system of civilization and the middle school history teaching. Long historical period and the overall view are the essence of Braudel’s “civilization history conception”. Based on this, <Grammaire des civilization> built a history system of civilization that is variety, layering flowing and attaching great importance to material production.In the second part, the author analyzes the existing history system of civilization in compulsory history textbooks republished by People’s Education Press, excavates the contents that need to be amended and then learn the experience of <Grammaire des civilization> to modify including style and content. As to the style, the suggestion is to keep the practice of Sino-foreign co-editor style, but change the contents that classified into political, economic and cultural three modules instead of arranging them according to the time, in order to maintain the integrity of the historical discipline system.In the third part, the author interviews some first-line teachers to understand the current situation of the use of civilization history conception in high school history teaching, explores effective strategies to carry out civilization history conception into high school history teaching combining the results of the survey with my own understanding both in the new lessons and the recitations. In the new lessons, we can model Braudel’sperspective of “civilization history conception” to interpret relevant historical facts and cultivate the students’ historical thinking; In the recitation, we can draw lessons from the history system of civilization of Fernand Braudel’s <Grammaire des civilization> to integrate the knowledge of the textbooks and build a history knowledge system under civilization history conception.
