In consideration of the phenomenon that primary school students show low interests and have difficulties in number and algebra learning, given the requirements for diversity in new curriculum standard and the demand of household education, this essay carry out a study with regard to the composition, design and practice of primary school games concerning number and algebra learning.The paper focuses on three questions:what kinds of game could be used in these number and algebra classes? What teaching models are involved in these games? and what teaching strategies could be applied in these games?By the use of literature analysis for the causes of primary school students’ difficulties in number and algebra, literature analysis and interviews for types of game classes and teaching models involved, case study for the practices of these games among pupils, and observation for analyzing the videos of teachers,the research shows that:1.After designing and practicing the author’s own game classes and interviewing professors, different types of games include:Chess and card playing, teaching aids and learning tools making, life experiencing, plot deducing, competitions, and puzzles. For each type above mentioned, the author also concluded the applicable object and the specific operation process.2.According to the primary school of number and algebra knowledge analysis,classified according to the specific knowledge of the game,teacher in teaching students according to the situation has the choice of game to teach.3.This paper concluded the composing elements and arranging principle in game design as well as the teaching models uniquely belonging to games which go like this: (1)activities-problems-exploration, (2)guidance-activity-exploration-discovery, and (3)activity-consolidation-improvement.4.By practicing those number and algebra games, the author got experiences in performing these games and discovered that the key factor influencing students’ learning was their interests and that uninteresting and feasibility were crucial to the performance of those games.5.In the practice teaching put forward the problems of heterogeneous grouping, giving full play to the advantages of the collective; Game design is reasonable, the preparation before class to fully; Effective monitoring,abide by the rules of the game.
