With the rapid development as well as the increasing completion of the Math education, lots of countries worldwide have undergone the revolution of the curriculum in Mathematics. Early in the 1830s, the western developed nations and other countries such as Japan had paid much attention to the vector, many of which had set up it as the core in the senior education. However, the vector teaching in China is so premature that to some extent both of the teachers and students do not have a good understanding of it, which has resulted in several problems existing in the current teaching and learning situation of the vector. The paper has attempted to do some surveys and draw some practical solutions to them, so as to take some positive measures to improve the present status. This paper has based on’the Ordinary High School Mathematics Curriculum Standard (experiment)’, which analyses the contents and requirements for the plane vector teaching in details. What is more, according to the questionnaire, the author has made a further contrast between the students’mastery level of the vector and the requirements in the’standard’, including four sides-- the concept, the quality and theorem, the arithmetic as well as the application. Then the author divides the subjects into four groups in terms of the scores gained in the survey, and chooses three individuals from each group to do some case analyses, in order to learn and find out the deep reasons for the above differences. On the other hand, the author has interviewed the teachers focusing on the teaching effectiveness, which helps to get a good knowledge of the present teaching status. Then the author has concluded the relative teaching and learning situations of the vector. On the one hand, problems occurring in the learning situation are as the followings:(1) lack of the background knowledge; (2) lack of comparative abilities as well as the correct transfer abilities; (3) lack of the developments in the divergent thinking; (4) lack of abilities in solving the practical problems with Mathematics. On the other hand, the current teaching has paid much attention to the scores rather than the ability nurturing. In conclusion, combining with his own teaching experiences, the author has put forward some strategies in the expectation to make the teaching more effective and efficient, which include three aspects concentrating on the background introduction, the teaching process, the teaching effect:(1) the vector teaching in the setting of Physics and Geometry; (2) sorts of methods in the vector teaching; (3) application of the open learning.
