Research On The Current Situation Of High School Experiment Teaching Under The New Curriculum

In 2004, China’s high school physics curriculum reform was officially started. The new curriculum standards reflects in high school physics curriculum nature, the basic idea, course overall objectives, course specific objectives, content standard and implementation suggestions that experiment occupies an important position in physics curriculum reform and physics teaching. Therefore, to understand the status of our high school physics experiment teaching, to analyze the gap between the current situation and curriculum standards requirements, and to find what factors restricting experiment teaching have become a serious problem.The authorfirst explain the new curriculum standards and analyze the requirementsof standards for high school physics experiment teaching from several angles:the importance of physics experiment teaching, the requirements of scientific inquiry and physics experiment ability and physics experiment teaching implementation suggestions.Secondly, the author use the literature research to collect the current situation of high school physics experiment teaching in some areas of China. The situation can be summarized from six angles, respectively are:teachers ’and students’ understanding of physics experiment, physics experiment teaching condition, physics experiment curriculum resource development, overall quality of physics teachers and laboratory technicians, the implementation situation of physics experiment teaching and the physics experiment ability of high school students.Then, taking Xinyi city of Jiangsu Province as an example, the author conducted a questionnaire survey of four high school’s students and teachers to make investigation and analysis, mainly from these aspects:the students and teachers’ consciousness of physical experiment, teachers and laboratory technician’s overall quality, curriculum resources development and utilization, the condition and current implementation situation of experiment teaching and the physics experiment ability of students, comparing them with thenew curriculum standards for comparative analysis. The author also selects a county high school and a town high school of Xinyi city to conduct a field study,to gain a deeper understanding of physics laboratory, the configuration of teaching instruments and the development situation of physical experiment class.Finally, combing the document literature and the survey results, the author find the gap between the status quo,and further puts forward several proposals for the problems in physics experiment teaching on the basis of the analysis and study.The study find that:(1) Students are lack of opportunities and conditions to make physical experiments;(2) Physics experiment curriculum resource development is not enough;(3) The overall quality of physics teachers and laboratory technician is not high;(4) The education function of experiment teaching is not implemented andthe students’physics experiment ability is not strong;(5) The experimental evaluation system is imperfect.To solve these problems according to the research experience, the author puts forward four strategies, respectively are:(1) Strengthen the construction of laboratory;(2) Develop physics experiment curriculum resources;(3) Improve the overall quality of physics teachers and laboratory technicians;(4) Improve and perfect the experimental evaluation method.
