At present, during the process of the constant reform of elementary education, and due to the influences of people’s attention to the courses, and the level of the allocation of teachers, the aim of establishing a correct world outlook, outlook on life, sense of worth, and the ideological and political subject which carries out the edification of humanity as well as the implementation of quality education in elementary schools, and the actual requirements of promoting new course reform, are not fully unified. Currently, the ideological and political subject mostly still adheres to the model of “teacher--classroom---teaching material”, which is too simplified, and it also fails to mobilize a wide range of information resources, so the ideological and political subject loses its unique characteristics of era and reality, and it also becomes less attractive. The problems of how to cultivate the ideological and political quality of students, and how to improve their self-study ability, establishing the idea of sustained learning urgently need to be discussed and solved by the ideological and political subject.Nowadays, there are many students lack of interest in learning the ideological and political subject. Looking into its root we found some problems. On the one hand, because of the teaching content, the ideological and political subject is designed to carry out the basic viewpoints of education of Marxism-Leninism, Mao Zedong thought, Deng Xiaoping theory and the important thought of three represents, which contains the promotion of the construction of socialist material civilization, political civilization and spiritual civilization, so the ideological and political subject is a bit monotonous and boring compared with other courses. On the other hand, due to the teaching methods, most teachings in China use a teaching model of spoon-feeding. The teachers blindly impart knowledge to students without considering if they can digest, as a result, the students just heard the content instructed by the teachers, and they only have impressions on the knowledge that they have learned, losing the initiative and creativity of a student. This traditional teaching method fails to arouse the students’ interest in learning. Let’s envisage that if the order of “teaching” and “learning” is reversed, which enables the learning attitude of students to be changed from passive into active, while also adds fun to learn, this is a new teaching model---Flipping the classroomFlipping the classroom is to flip the traditional teaching model that the teachers instruct new knowledge during the class, and the students strengthen and consolidate the new knowledge by independently completing the exercises after they go home into that the students study the courses’ content by themselves after the class, and then the teachers and students carry out discussion and do exercises together during the class so as to consolidate and digest. Based on an extensive reading and looking over the related theories of flipping the classroom at home and abroad, as well as carrying out a further study, this paper takes the 64 th middle school in Zhengzhou city of Henan Province as an example, combined with the features of the ideological and political subject, it builds a study on the design of the ideological and political subject of senior middle school based on the concept of flipping the classroom. And in the process of teaching practice, it proposes new requirements for the ideological and political subject of senior middle school according to the teaching theory of flipping the classroom and new course standard, trying to carry out flipping teaching design, so as to be able to test if the flipping the classroom can be applied to the teaching of the ideological and political subject of senior middle school in the practice process, gradually modifying, improving, thereby providing references to most first-line teachers.This paper includes the following parts: Part I is the introduction, according to its contents it can be divided into the background and significance of the topic, the status of study on the flipping the classroom at home and abroad, the research methods of this paper and the research purpose. Part II is the definition of the related concepts of flipping the classroom as well as the exposition of its theoretical basis. Part III is the investigation and analysis of the design of the teaching of the ideological and political subject of senior middle school. Part IV is the study on design of the ideological and political subject of senior middle school based on the concept of flipping the classroom. Part V is the practice and case analysis of the teaching model of flipping the classroom. Part VI is the achievements and deficiencies of the teaching design of flipping the classroom of the ideological and political subject of senior middle school as well as the prospects for future.
