As the communication between China and other countries of the world becomes increasingly frequent and intimate, the role of English has now become more significant. The English education has then obtained the unprecedented attention. English teaching in China has also achieved considerable success in many respects. Problems, however, still exist in the process of English teaching. In the mode of traditional teaching methodology, much attention has been paid to the mastering of the linguistic knowledge, while the students’ ability to use language to communicate has been largely ignored. Therefore, the reform of the teaching concept on the part of the teachers in order to improve English teaching efficiency and students’ autonomous learning ability has become the important subject of the contemporary English teaching process. To achieve the purpose, the present study is to construct the multi-dimensional interactive English teaching mode, trying to improve students’ ability of English learning, and cultivate their comprehensive language using ability.Two classes were selected as research subjects in Huaxian No.6 high School from Henan Province. The two classes, class A(experimental class) and Class B(control class), are at the same level of English proficiency. In order to ensure the validity of the 5-month research results, quantitative and qualitative methods are used, such as language tests, questionnaire, interviews, class observation etc. Careful and detailed analysis of the data collected in the study prove that applying Multi-dimensional interaction mode to high school English teaching can change the students’ attitude towards learning English and stimulate students’ motivation thus improving students’ performance in English.This thesis is divided into five chapters. The first chapter introduces the research background, significance and objectives. The second chapter clarifies the theoretical basis of multi-dimensional interaction mode and the basic elements of multi-dimensional interaction mode. Besides, it also reviews the achievements that have been gained at home and abroad. The third chapter introduces the research questions, the participants, the instruments, the procedure and the methods of data collection. In the fourth chapter the data collected are analyzed in detail, including the results of the pretest and posttest, questionnaire, interview and classroom observation. In Chapter 5,on the basis of the data analysis and discussion in Chapter 4, the researcher summarizes the major findings of this study and put forward some effective and practical strategies of using multi-dimensional interaction mode in high school English teaching. At last, the author points out the limitations of this study and suggestions for further research.
