Since the new century, along with the pace of development, deepen education reform in our country, the results of the impact of education and academic research output have made considerable progress.Thus, this article applies biliometrical method to Educational Research, a typical educational academic journal nationwide to launch a statistical analysis on loads, headings, keywords, authors and literatures of 2699 articles published on Educational Research from 2000 to 2012. It aims to reveal the development and trends of China’s educational studies and ascertain its focus since 2000.Based on this research, the emphasis and trends of educational research can be summarized in the following four aspects: 1. In terms of research themes, hot issues discussed are curriculum and teaching methodology, higher education, the basic theory of education, educational economy and management, elementary education and teacher’s education. 2. In terms of keywords, the pervasive practical problems of education will be further explored, focusing on the development of two teaching subjects, teachers and students. 3. In terms of authors, academic exchanges will become increasingly crucial, thus more and more joint thesis; researchers are mainly from teacher’s universities, with a growing number of those from comprehensive universities and research institutes. 4. In terms of literatures, it will be more formalized and diversified, putting increasing emphasis on the quotation of different types and articles written in foreign languages, which strengthens international academic exchanges.Based on the analysis of shifts of educational research focuses in China, the author suggests that the following issues deserves high attention in the future development of Chinese education: 1. In terms of research themes, family education and ethnical education should be given more concern besides the hotspots and key issues. 2. In terms of the geographical distribution of authors, governments should make more policies preferable to areas with poorly developed economy and education, attracting scholars to move and develop their careers there and improving educational development in these districts. 3. In terms of literatures, researchers should learn from advanced experiences of global education in order to promote domestic education.
