The new curriculum reform pays great attention to cultivate the student’s ability of history, throughout the university entrance exam in recent years, the type of historical pictures topic occupies certain proportion, so it is necessary to pay attention to develop the students’ ability of reading historical pictures in today’s middle school history teaching practice.The middle school history teaching is based on history textbooks. In terms of the current major version of high school history textbooks, historical pictures can be divided into different types according to the three standards that are content, form and nature. Compared with the ordinary pictures, historical pictures have the characteristics of historic, the quality of historical data and practicability. Compared with the materials, historical pictures are intuitive, vivid and lively. We lay emphasis on the cultivation of student’s historical pictures reading ability, not only can improve the students’ ability of dealing with the test, enhance students’ ability in history, but also can stimulate students’ interest in learning and to cultivate students’ humanities cultivated manners.For understanding the historical pictures,we need combination of inside and outside and layer upon layer decomposition, thus achieve twice the result with half the effort. Specific to do:First of all, feeling the intuitive details of pictures and master the whole content;The second,drawing the basic information of the image directly, grasping the constituent elements of the pictures comprehensively; The third,revealing the complex connotation which is implied in the pictures and seeing the essence through the phenomena;The last, grasping the value orientation of pictures and sublimating our emotion.We can take the following three ways in the actual teaching according to different needs.The firstly, demonstration method of typical picture interpreting the most typical and authoritative pictures that the content is in accordance with the historical teaching;The secondly, correlation method of series pictures. Comparing the picture from the vertical and horizontal two dimensions, coming to the conclusion.The lastly, contrasting each other proofs, combining images with text materials to explore the historical truth.
