China’s University Motto And Its Function For Ideological And Political Education

The motto of a university is its soul; it embodies the university’s educational goals and mission; and it is the spiritual home for the teachers and students at the university. With the emergence and development of higher education, school mottos developed gradually. School mottos play a significant role in improving education quality, in building students’correct outlook on life, value and worldview. The research of the function of school motto has on ideological and political education has its practical significance in order to promote a healthy development.The function of school motto on ideological and political education is the thesis of this paper; this paper gives an analysis of the origin and development of school mottos, at the same time, provides a discussion about the ideological content and the characteristics of school motto.
