The occurrence of school crisis always makes it struggling for the healthy development of educational environment. The headmaster is the leader of school. Enhancement of the headmasters’ capability of crisis management, normalization of school crisis management, effective crisis prevention and handling are the practical problems which elementary and secondary schools are faced with. Accordingly, the researches of headmaster’s capability of crisis management are able to facilitate headmaster to pay attention to improve their own crisis management capability and provide directions for further perfecting school crisis management.School crisis, a destructive incident seriously threatening school organization, is caused by one or more factors without early warning. This kind of incidents affects the operation and development of school and needs immediate response and disposal.Not only does school crisis have different types, it also has internal occurrence mechanism. It is headmaster’s responsibility to manage school crisis. School crisis management refers to the strategy and process of management activity for preventing,handling, restoring and afterward disposing crisis. The headmaster’s crisis management capability belongs to a kind of special ability in professional situation.Any special ability has inner mental structure and outer behavioral representation. The headmasters’ capability of crisis management is characterized by structuration and consists of crisis cognitive ability(including capabilities of crisis study, public sentiment management and crisis prevention), crisis strain capacity(including capabilities of crisis reaction, crisis decision, crisis communication and coordination),capability of crisis disposal afterward(including capabilities of crisis restoration and crisis introspection). According to the empirical studies such as interview and investigation, questionnaire survey and statistical analysis, there are several shortcomings of headmaster’s crisis management capability in our country including "no consensus of crisis management, lack of management normative, incompletemanagement capability, obvious management deviation and group differentiation".To solve these problems, and enhance the headmasters’ capability of crisis management, we can use all the power of researchers, administrative department for education, training agency for education, headmasters and schoolteachers. In terms of researchers, they should facilitates consensus and get a step further research; to administrative department for education, they must establish norms and adhere strictly to select the headmaster candidates, make policy, pursue knowledge and supervise their work; In terms of training agency, doing the right research before the train and they need to improve the training effectiveness;as a headmaster of school, firstly, they must evolve rational thinking, then they ought to perfect mechanism of crisis management. Also the headmasters should pay more attention to communicate and cooperate with media in guiding public opinion. Meanwhile, they must attach importance to manage the aftermath of the crisis. At last, promotes self-improvement is always significant for headmasters; In respect to teachers, actively coordinate with headmasters’ working is the first duty, what’s more, they are obliged to strengthen crisis management consciousness and skill learning. |
