High school graduation exam system is an essential part of middle school education during the period of republic of china. Ministry of Education announced the 《Temporary Provisional Regulation on Graduation Exam in Primary and Middle School》in 1932, which started the system of graduation exam around Republic China regularly. Then, Ministry of Education announced the《Regulation on Graduation Exam in Primary and Middle School》in 1933,announced the《Modified Regulation on Graduation Exam in Primary and Middle School》in 1935.These are important documents about the graduation exam system of Republic China. During the Anti-Japanese War, enemy-occupied area could not keep carrying out this system. After the war, due to traffic, prices and other reasons, the system of middle school graduation education examination had been terminated finally.The Republic of China middle school graduation examination is a double-edged sword, advantages and disadvantages are obvious effect, Opinions on it varied from person to person. Those who supported it that could purify the style of study, strengthen teaching quality, and boost teaching efficiency. However, opponents deemed it could kidnap teaching and had a negative influence on teenagers. As an important education exam system, The Republic of China middle school graduation examination has important influence on Chinese modern history of education, systematic study on this important examination system, has important theoretical significance and realistic view of meaning.This paper can be divided into five parts:The first part mainly introduces the reason why chooses this topic, the meaning of this study, current research status, related research methods and the possible feasibility of this study.The second part has discussed the reason why graduation exam system issued in republic of China from four aspects as follows: the negative effect which made by previous reform of education system, chaotic situation of middle education, reference to the suggestion from foreign experts and the test customs in long history. From above, it can be concluded that graduation exam is the return of traditional knowledge teaching.The third part mainly introduces the basic structure of graduation exam including the preparation before exam such as preparing the examination committee, exam funds input, site selection of exam, arrangement of test and so on, the estimate after exam such as calculation of the result, the principle of rewards and punishments for students. At last, it can be seen the change from three perspectives: test object, text subject and result accounting.The forth part comprehensively and fully judges the graduation exam system based on the attitude from society.The last part is aimed at analyzing the problem of current graduation exam from which we can gain positive experience, insist on the independence and improve the two strategies of graduation exam standard.
