National chemistry contest of senior high school students began in 1984. In order to cope with International Chemistry Olympiad, the sequential selection mode which is from junior to senior, regional to national, the preliminaries to the final has been formed. The specific standards of inspection, selection and training of the participants have also been formed and it demands the stronger basic knowledge of chemistry, better test ability and higher quality of the participants. Since 1987, Chinese team has been participating in IChO 19 times till now. 76 participators from China won 76 medals which include 51 golden medals, 21 silver medals and 3 bronze medals and obtained team title 10 times. Despite the success, in the different areas, the gap of training standards of Chemistry Olympiad exists all the time The following conclusions are based on the analysis of the preliminary test questions from 2001 to 2008:1. In the preliminary exam, respecting the leading principles, highlight the important point, inheriting the success experiences and obeying the regulations are the principles of the know ledger-point-based test.2. More pronounced after the new curriculum reform in secondary chemistry of natural growth of the test, gradually abandon the memory of knowledge and university knowledge test3. The test of the thinking ability, the information construction ability, the self-learning ability, the creativity are important, especially the creativity.4. Pay attention to the hot issues, like the social progress, economic development, improved quality of life, environmental improvement which all link to the chemistry. For the students, to observe the world with the guide of the chemical perspective, and to solve the practical problems with the help of the chemical knowledge.Based on the conclusions of these studies, from the questionnaires and telephone interviews, in Inner Mongolia,the researchers believed that five schools in eight cities, and in Beijing, Zhejiang, Hunan and other provinces, eight school chemistry teachers and students have some conclusions. Compared with the advanced areas, the value of the Chemistry Contest is underestimated. The importance attached to the macro-control measures taken of the schools, the attitude and the energy cost of the teachers and the students to the Chemistry Contest are still not enough.In recent years, National Chemistry Olympiad questions of in-depth analysis and key high schools outside the province of Inner Mongolia region and race preparation work of the specific chemistry contest various aspects of the implementation process on the basis of comparative analysis of proposed increase and improvement of the level of competition in our region a number of specific chemical responses: ( 1) To establish a stable, strong discipline competition Steering Group (2) Develop a progressive training program (3) Focus on self-learning ability of students (4) Build students knowledge and ability to complete systems.
