The minor children of convicts are a special group of our current society, but alsoa forgotten group. On the one hand, we put more attention on offenders about theircrime prevention and social rehabilitation than the minor children. We have notsystematic, targeted services for their survival status, psychological status andbehavior. On the other hand, although the minor children have been included in thefive key crowds, they are different from bad youth, social idle youth, left-behindchildren and homeless youth. Because of the work concept of the government andlack of long-term and relief system, the minor children of convicts can not gain usefuland effective help and service.Without being taken care and family warmness, lack of economic aids, and leakof guardianship cause the life predicament of the weak group. Meanwhile,psychological problems can easily happen to them due to social discrimination andlack of education. As a result, the minor children of convicts commit crime easily,higher than that of normal children, which becomes an unstable factor of our society.So paying great attention to them and take care of them is not only the responsibilityof the government for next generation but also an important aspect of crimeprevention.The Ministry of Justice made an investigation about the minor children ofconvicts in2005, which concluded that their living condition is serious. And they commit a crime more easily than ordinary children. So the whole society must givethe necessary attention and concern, and the government needs to develop the caringassistance activities. In the subsequent national care, a certain amount of minorchildren get material assistance and counseling but more prisoners’ children did notget social relief because of the data statistics and service content. Therefore, I thinkwe need learn more about the minor children of convicts, find the reasons causingthem to crime and put forward the way of crime prevention and service assistance,which is very significant to the prisoners, prisoners’ minor children and the wholesociety.This issue is about to analyze the psychological causes of minor children ofconvicts through below methods: cognitional error of id and short of formingsuperego by the theory of psycho-analysis, misunderstanding of parents’ serving asentence by cognitive dissonance theory, referring to parents’ behavior by imitationthesis, deepening the agreement of committing crimes by theory of differentialassociation. And this issue is about to discuss the social causes of minor children ofconvicts crimes through the ways: short of family attachment by social control theory,influence on children via external factors by labeling theory, analyzing the culturalenvironment of convicts’ children by subculture theory and conflict theory.Meanwhile, this issue proposes feasible suggestions for prevention of crimes andeducation help by systematic thinking, overall prevention and classified prevention,which combines the practical work of Shanghai government, so that can really makepositive energy of caring people effective.
