The Ministry of Education of P.R.China issued Curriculum Standards of Biology forGeneral Senior High Schools(experimental) in March2003.The new curriculum textbookof biology have been used in senior high school in Hubei Province since2009, whichbegan so late that it’s difficult for teachers to adapt. The biology teachers creativelydeveloped a group of outstanding instructional design (ID) cases while they explored newteaching process. It is an effective way to enhance the teachers’ abilities through trainingteachers and students majoring in biology by using case teaching, which can shortentrainees’ growth cycle. According to this, it is of big significance to collect more casesunder the background of new curriculum implementation, to construct an excellent IDcase library with local characteristics and to accumulate data for the study of the theoryand practice of biology teaching research in senior high school.The study mainly adopts as such methods as documentary research, case studies andeducational experiment, and it was done as follows: status analysis, theoreticaldemonstration, case collection, outstanding cases selection, a case library compilation,case comment, case practice, and making conclusions.The main conclusions are as follows:Firstly, collecting and selecting outstanding ID cases and constructs a case library.Using a variety of ways to collect190ID cases, such as documents, PPT and classroominstructional videos, which can be divided into6categories, including21history ofbiological science cases,34model construction cases,4local biological resourcesdevelopment cases,61experimental inquiry cases,47recitation cases,23other cases. Inorder to avoid duplication, the selected cases have not been fully studied only, including21ID cases based on the history of biological science,25ID cases based on the clues ofmodel construction,4ID cases based on the development of local biological resources,which is a total of50.Secondly, the case sub-library was given a theoretic analysis and the representativecases were commented. The case sub-library was theoretically analyzed from the theoretical basis, the characteristics, the values, the general procedures, the problemsneed to be paid attention to, etc. The representative cases of each type in sub-library wereselected to be commented, including The fluid mosaic model of cell membranes, which isbased on history of biological science, Construct a model of the chromosomes number’schange during the meiosis, which is based on model constructing, The characteristics ofpopulations, which is based on local biological resources development.Thirdly, two cases (The embodiment of life activities—protein and The fluid mosaicmodel of cell membranes) were applied into classroom practice, The results proved to bethat the experimental group ones (selected cases) can get better effectiveness than thecontrol group ones (conventional cases). In summary, the excellent ID has a promotingeffect on education, not only for the student’s learning, but also for the teacher’s teaching.
