As the basic organizations of universities, faculties are the basic strengths topromote the progress and development of higher education.To a certain extent,schoolrunning quality and level reflect the overall level of university development. Facultyperformance evaluation is an important part of college management, how to establisha scientific and reasonable evaluation system of faculty performance,to make thefaculty performance assessment system institutionalized and standardized,thus toimprove the accuracy and credibility, is the urgent task in the management of collegesand universities.To study and explore the faculty performance evaluation by referenceof value management theory and methods,which provides new ideas for traditionalmethods of faculty performance evaluation, is not only the need to actively face themarket economy, the mass higher education and the competitions betweenuniversities,but also the inherent requirement of faculties to deepen the reform ofinternal management system,establish modern university system, strengthenconnotation construction, make management innovation, stimulate internal potentialand improve their core competitiveness.Starting from the basic theory of value management and performance evaluation,combined with the characteristics and rules of college work, by using the literaturemethod, entropy method, case analysis, comparative study, qualitative andquantitative analysis, cross-sectional studies, longitudinal analysis and other methods,school faculty performance evaluation is discussed and studied in the perspective ofvalue management. At the begining,it discusses the general problems in university faculty performance evaluation, on the basis of which, it analysises the currentsituations of faculty performance evaluation, make the definitions of the function andcost of faculties,thus to construct the value management model to assess theperformance of faculties.To carry on the example analysis in accordance with thevaluation model,it selects the internal faculties of a university in Nanjing as theresearch objects,and puts forward improvement proposals to improve school facultyperformance value according to the assessment results. These researches andexplorations,from theory to practice,provide a useful reference for the facultyperformance evaluation with an objective and scientific evaluation model ofperformance evaluation for universities.And also performance evaluation areeffectively made between faculties, evaluation objects’ functions are maximized, costsare controlled reasonablely, the maximum value of the management objects are finallybe reached. It is a kind of management method innovation attempt of universities,which can provide basis for decision making for the managers of universities,thus toimprove efficiency of university management, to enhance the faculties’ vitalities, toprovide beneficial thoughts and operational paths for the scientifical development ofcolleges and universities.
