The report of the17th CPC Congress proposed “The contemporary Chinese Marxismpopularization” mission for the first time. The report of the18th CPC Congress proposed “Weshould continue to adapt Marxism to China’s conditions in keeping up with the times andincreasing its appeal to the people, incorporate the system of theories of socialism withChinese characteristics into the curriculum and make it a way of thinking.” This thesis is thenew requirements for the ideological and political education of the colleges and universities.It requires the universities should not only to conduct the thorough research to the ChineseMarxist theory and to explore how Marxism accepted understood and practiced by modernuniversity students.That if the contemporary Chinese Marxism can be understood and mastered by thegeneral college students is related to whether the college students can firm ideal faith ofsocialism with Chinese characteristics, smoothly promote the vigorous development of thecause of socialism with Chinese characteristics and achieve the great rejuvenation of theChinese nation. Ideological and political education is the main land to accept the Marxisteducation for college students. It is a realistic subject to be solved how to make collegestudents want to learn, love to learn and use the contemporary Chinese Marxism.The paper mainly discusses the current situation, problems and causes of the ideologicaland political theory education based on the contemporary Chinese Marxism popularizationsocial background, and also puts forward the feasible improvement methods. There are fiveparts in this paper. The first part puts forward the research background, significance of thetopic and the research status. The second part is the summary of the Marxism popularization,ideological and political theory education. The third part analyses the international anddomestic social environment of the Marxism popularization. The fourth part analyses thereasons of the problems about the teaching and learning of the ideological and politicaleducation, and also the construction of teachers’ team. The fifth part discusses methods to improve the ideological and political theory education.
