The Central Committee of CPC and the State Council’s “Views on FurtherStrengthening and Improving the Ideological and Political Education of CollegeStudents” clearly pointed out that it is a must to strengthen and improve the ideologicaland political education of college students. In the new situation, the ideological andpolitical education of college students should be strengthened with the guidance ofMarxism-Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory and “ThreeRepresents” thinking, and should always vigorously carry out the theory and practice ofinnovation, in order to publicize the theoretical system of Socialism with Chinesecharacteristics and promote the popularization of Marxism in contemporary China. Theideological and political education also should be carried out in line with the meaningand practice requirements of the popularization of Marxism, and reflect the era,nationality and practical features of contemporary popularization of contemporaryChinese Marxism. The exploration of effective ideological and political education pathin the popularization of contemporary Chinese Marxism is conducive to take fulladvantage of the overall educational resources, to realize contemporary ChineseMarxism, and to enhance the effectiveness of the ideological and political education.From this point of view, the promotion of the popularization of contemporary ChineseMarxism and the educational vision establishment of the popularization of Marxism putforward new requirements and define a new starting point for the expansion of theideological and political education path.In the first part of this paper, the reason for choosing the topic, the background, andthe significance of this topic were introduced; the status of the popularization ofMarxism and the ideological and political education path at this stage were reviewed. Inthe second part, the popular connotation and characteristics of Marxism, the meaning ofthe ideological and political education path were introduced; the relationship betweenthe popularization of Marxism and the ideological and political education path wasanalyzed. The popularization of Marxism provides a good environment for theideological and political education path; the diversification and effectiveness ofideological and political education path also meet the requirements of promoting thepopularization of Marxism. In the third part, the current situation of the popularizationof Marxism and the ideological and political education in college students, including thefamiliarity, the attitude, the internalization effects, the initiative to learn and practice of the contemporary Chinese Marxism theory were surveyed; the effect of the ideologicaland political education path and the problems of the existing paths and reasons weredemonstrated. In the last part, the effective paths to strengthen the ideological andpolitical education and promote the popularization of Marxism were explored. Theideological and political education in accordance with different activity space weredivided into three parts, including class teaching, daily ideological and politicaleducation, and social practice, in order to explore the expansion and deepening of theideological and political education path, and realize the goals for accelerating theideological and political education and the popularization of Marxism.
