The exercise after Chinese class is an important part of Chinese textbooks. It is about the level of curriculum goal and the implementation of the concept of new curriculum reform. For students, the after-school exercise helps them to consolidate knowledge, develop thinking, enhance the ability of language and promote the comprehensive development. For teachers, the after-school exercise helps them to improve the quality of teaching, feedback teaching information and test the students’ learning. So, setting up after-school exercise has very important significance.The research is divided into four parts. The first part is introduction, mainly elaborate the reason, literature review, significance, direction and the main content of all the research.The second part is the theoretical research of Chinese textbooks for high school after class exercises, which is divided into three sections. The first section mainly introduces the meaning of Chinese after class exercises, respectively from the nature of Chinese curriculum, purpose and content to explain. The second section mainly analyze the types, and problem sets, It mainly based on the way of practice, the content, the uniqueness of the answer to explain. The third section introduces the function of exercises, respectively from students and teachers.The third part uses the method of questionnaire survey and interview to analyze the using of exercise. The questionnaire is for sophomore year students in Xinyang city in Henan province. There are14multiple choice questions and1open question. These design according to conditions and the content of teacher interview. This part has two aspects. First, through the data of survey to response the present situation. Second, through data analysis, to find out the layout design problems and analyzes the reasons.The fourth part is based on the analysis of the survey of after school exercise. It proposes principles and appropriate measures for improve the problem. It can be divided into two elements. In the principles of design, it should follow the principles of humanism, tools principle, the principle of nature, life principle, the principle of moderate and the principle of openness. On improvements and initiatives, the kit should increase the basic and life-related knowledge. The system should make the reading and writing skills balanced development and the subject is flexible. The teachers should make full use of other textbooks and give a flexible way to use their exercise.
