Due to the force intervention outside of academic field and the deepening of higher education reform, local colleges are more geared to the needs of the market and society. In this process, the local college teachers’ occupational status differentiation appeared. Its essence is the differentiation of capital status, power status and academic prestige. Excessive differentiation will affect the development of academic profession, discipline organization and students.The main content of this thesis includes seven parts. In the first part, the author mainly introduces the research background, significance, purpose, technical route, and related researches. In the second part, the author mainly discusses the connotation and characteristics of college teachers’occupational status differentiation. College teachers’occupational status includes capital, power and prestige. Based on connotation of the economic capital, social capital, cultural capital, power and academic prestige, the author respectively construct measurement models, in the third part. According to the measured data of local college teachers in Hubei province, the author drew the teachers’occupational status differentiation "Lorentz Curve", to reflect the degree of teachers’occupational status differentiation, in the fourth part. Base on the analysis by SPSS17.0, the author prove that local college teachers’occupational status has differentiated with age, administrative duties, and subject, in Hubei province. In the fifth part, the author mainly analyzes the reason of this differentiation. The collectivization of knowledge production in these colleges,"academic capitalism", power imbalances, academic "Matthew effect", academic management system defects directly or indirectly promote teachers’ occupational status too atomised. The sixth part mainly analyzed the potential impact of this differentiation. It affects the subject autonomy, the development of the discipline organization, the teacher’s own identity, their academic morality and academic innovation. It affects the students’ academic values, aspirations and their quality of education. In the the seventh part, the author suggest that it need to ensure relative equality of local college teachers’ capital position, power and academic reputation from constructing academic profession culture and reforming academic career management system and professional guarantee system.
