A Comparative Study Of Chinese And American University Presidents Accrual Structure Under The Multiple Position Identities

It is a problem that every university president is considering and affects the future of universities that what the rights and responsibilities of university presidents are, what the hardships are and what the methods are. Undoubtedly, universities Presidents play an important role in the development of world-class universities.This article aims to study the structure of rights and responsibilities of university presidents under the multiple position identities. The article is divided into five parts. First, the position identities of30Chinese211university presidents and20American state university presidents are collected by searching internet, and then they are divided into legal position identity, administrative position identity, academic position identity, and other social position identity, and Chinese and U.S. University Presidents position identity number distribution and classification are compared. Second, based on the duties of the position identities of Chinese and U.S. University Presidents, analyze their duties in according to the constitution and all relevant university charter. According to a questionnaire survey and network trace Chinese211 University Presidents and the Chinese University Presidents findings, this paper will make statistical analysis on Chinese University Presidents distribution of time and effort to perform their duties. Third, based on the theory of Clark six levels of power coupled with its additional seventh layer (community groups and business organizations) in a hierarchical manner, this research will take the module of china and U.S. University Presidents for research and comparison. Fourth, the system behind the responsibility and authority of China and U.S. University Presidents will be observed from China and the U.S. system of internal and external analysis. With the comparison of Chinese and American universities and cultural heritage, and national institutional changes affecting legal responsibility and authority of principals, this research will analyze the source of their responsibility and authority and immutable factors. Fifth, string points into the surface, using mapping software and Excel try to construct the structure of responsibility and authority under Chinese and U.S. University Presidents’multiple position identities, which includes the distribution of responsibility and authority, composition, origin, etc. Finally, based on identity theory, the paper will define six points about the adjustment of China University Presidents structure of responsibility and authority, and make recommendations accordingly.As a new perspective, responsibility and authority. The structure of responsibility and authority, and constructed modules under multiple position identities are new challenging areas. From a new perspective on the University Presidents through a clearer understanding of responsibility and authority to achieve more efficient management, this research is mean to improve the university governance system, and promote the professionalization of University Presidents and world-class university process.
