It’s well known that motivation is one of the key influences on language learning success. Motivation influences learners’ autonomy, attention, effort, persistence, and their learning achievement. Robert Gardner and Wallence Lambert started the pioneer work on motivation who brought motivational issues to the attention of L2field. More recently, researchers expanded the theories of motivation from many aspects such as social psychological factors, linguistic psychology and so on. But most of them are mainly focused on undergraduates, and less concerned with junior middle students.The present writer wants to start from the aspect of junior middle students’ real situation to know their true ideas and then come up with certain teaching methods. And also writer would like to demonstrate the feasibility of these teaching methods. The subjects were students from Huanglong middle school of Xiangzhou District in Xiangyang City. The results from the questionnaire indicates that the majority of junior middle school students think of English-learning as a must; and their motivation has something to do with teacher’s support.According to the results, the present writer used some teaching methods:foster students’independent learning ability; help them attribute properly; help them experience the sense of achievement; create harmonious relationship; create questional situations; take proper teaching strategies and methods; and take different kinds of evaluation.By using these teaching methods, class atmosphere now is much better than before. For example, students are more confident in answering questions. And their learning results are much better than before. In accordance with my interview to them, they like this kind of teaching methods.In summary, English teachers in junior middle school have to pay close attention to teaching methods. To inspire students’learning motivation, teachers have to take proper English teaching strategies.
