Currently, our country is in the big tide of the new curriculum reform. The teachers’ professional development is an important factor which affects success of education reform. In order to ensure the smooth progress of the new curriculum reform, more attention should be paid to the professional development of teachers. In our country, there is a large group of rural teachers. Rural teachers with high level of professional development are the important guarantee of rural education, which is the key of the smooth implementation of new curriculum reform in rural. Therefore, based on rural, it is important for the society to concern the status and problems of rural teachers’ professional development. In this way, the professional development of teachers in rural areas will be promoted.Based on related literatures and integration on the basis of predecessors’ research results, this issue defines related concept and the connotation of teacher professional development, and then takes Putian city, Fujian province rural high school biology teachers as the research example. By the way of questionnaire survey and depth interview method, the issue tries to survey the current situation of rural high school biology teachers’ professional development and the existing problems. And then analyze the factors influencing rural teacher’s professional development. Finally, put forward the strategy to promote the teacher professional development, and provide valuable reference for the professional development of rural high school biology teachers.
