Professional development of teachers has not only become leading tendency the research of educational theory development of this particular group will have direct bearing on the quality of basic of ideology all the countries throughout the world, but it is also the general direction and goal of reform of teacher education in our country. Teachers in western rural China make up a major part of the primary and middle school teachers in our country.It is well acknowledged that the quality and professional education as a whole, and can even affect development strategic plan in the west of China. Thus, it is of great importance to look into teachers’professional development, especially that of those in western rural areas in China. Base on the native land of the western rural, It is necessary to do on-the-spot investigation to get actual state and value about current situation of professional development of teachers in western rural areas and to find out existing problems in order to put forward final strategies for future development.Teacher professional quality is the essence of professional development of teachers, and definite the contents of a concept and its relation to the objects in the first place first. Focused on the sustainable teachers’ professional development, teachers in western rural China for objects, there are four sections in our results. In the first part, proposed the origin of the study, made clear of some related concepts and declared literature review, and analysis significance of the sustainable teachers’ professional development to professional development of teachers. In the second part, based on the previous study on teachers’professional quality structure, content analysis adaptation for drown the conclusion that the research of the static and architecture of teachers’professional development modern,build a models, including professional identification system, professional concept system, professional knowledge system, professional ability system. In the third part of the paper, based on the theory of professional qualities architecture, four towns in A county of Shaanxi province is taken for case study in order to find out current situation about teachers’professional identification、professional concept、professional knowledge、professional ability,structure of teaching staff, and causes of existing problems in professional development of teachers in western rural areas in China. The outstanding concrete features are that:unreasonable structure of teaching staff; weak awareness of professional identity and autonomous development; unreasonable professional knowledge and ability; on-the-job training formalization, has limited value. Explorative analysis of causes for these, outstanding complaints are that:defective reformation of personnel system; the lack of teacher education system; Chinese traditional values influence; limited in educational resources, the development conditions of are less than satisfactory; the lack of motive force.The theory research should point at the critique and construction of the reality forever. The last chapter concludes that to strengthen internal driving force and teachers’ professional competence in order to teachers’professional development.
