In modern society, Outstanding universities mean a lot to the development of acountry. We should date back to Middle Ages if we want to clarify the formation ofmodern university. The formation of medieval university is a part of the formation ofmodern society. Medieval university becomes object of study in the historiographycircle of education, social and law.The University of Cambridge is one of the earliest founded universities inmedieval Europe, it occupied the higher education of England for a long time with theUniversity of Oxford. From1209to1497, this period is a difficult beginning ofCambridge University. This part of history has a unique model significance onmodern universities researching. According to the historical background, the politicalsituation from the House of Anjou to the House of Lancaster has been unstable, itseems that a great university could not grow well during this period. Meanwhile, thedevelopment of Cambridge University became more and more steady. This thesistried to conclude the reason of the formation of modern universities and analysis theeffect of university to modern world by means of researching the formation ofCambridge University.
