Chinese sports colleges perfectly provide basic environments for the development of national aerobics, with primary tasks aiming at training and selecting outstanding youth professional aerobics athletes for our country. Whether these colleges can achieve this goal is, to a large extent, depending on the aerobics coaches whose general qualities and teaching skills would potentially determine the competitive level of the varsities they lead. Based on our analysis of the structure of aerobics teaching and training, the contribution of. this paper is to provide a set of objective and efficient evaluation criteria for Chinese aerobics coaches coming from sports colleges, and furthermore, motivates them to make up their shortcomings through self-evaluations and students feedbacks so that they could improve their teaching skills in the future. This paper draws following conclusions through a careful study of teaching skills of many aerobics coaches coming from14Chinese sports colleges. Note we have employed various techniques to build our methodology such as questionnaire investigation, interview of authorities as well as mathematic statistics.1)By applying Delphi Method for experts to select and assess candidate criteria, we have successfully built the evaluation system for aerobics coaches who lead corresponding aerobics varsities. The system includes1first class criterion,6second level criteria and44third class ones.Experts rank the second level criteria of importance as: training ability, innovation mind, managing ability, learning ability, conducting ability and social skill.2)This study reflects the general picture of self-evaluations of teaching skills given by the coaches in the way of computing the average scores of self-evaluation reports (quantified questionnaires) from26aerobics varsity coaches. According to their own teaching skill cognition, these coaches rank the above second level criteria of themselves as: learning ability, training ability, managing ability, conducting ability, social skill as well as innovation mind.3)Among the third level criteria of teaching skills, those coaches rank their own best scored ones as:ability of correcting mistakes, drawing references from other sports training experience, fairly selecting athletes, conducting flexibly in live competitions, communicating with athletes and learning professional skills.4)While the evaluation feedbacks from athletes to their coaches in terms of second level criteria ranking vary. The ordered criteria are: ability of conducting flexibly in live competitions, practical training skills, managing ability, social ability, learning ability and finally innovative mind.5)Once more, there are differences between feedbacks and self-evaluation of the coaches as for the third level criteria ranking. Their orders are as follows:ability of correcting mistakes, background music selecting and creating, drawing and implementing regulations of teams, conducting flexibly in live competitions, communicating with judges and lastly learning professional skills.6)The second level criteria Correlation coefficient from athletes and self-evaluations from coaches are0.702, shows high correlation. The third class ones between feedbacks from athletes and self-evaluations from coaches vary from0.497to0.956. They are generally in a medium level of agreement.
