College students are the main force of modernization construction of China’ssocialism, representing the future development of our country. It requires themto develop a positive view of the ideal and belief. Correct ideal and belief can makestudents aware of their own sense of mission, so that they will set the national interestas their goals, devoting themselves to the construction of China’s socialism. At theideological and political level, college students show their love and support to theCommunist Party of China and her decision as well as promote the effective executionof the Party’s guidelines. In their daily learning and working life, college studentspursue ideological progresses, most of them having positive and healthy values,actively devoting their efforts into various activities with clear destination.However,we cannot ignore that along with the deep communication among countries, variousthoughts introduced in have a certain impact on the college students, especiallythose negative ideas and the ideas which are not suitable for our currency. All of thesewould be an obstacle for them to establish correct ideals and beliefs to a certain extent.Thus, we should attach great importance to the construction of college students’ idealsand beliefs.It is of great significance to enforce the education of the college students’ idealsand beliefs through the application of local cultural resources. This paper focuseson the organic integration of the local cultural resources and the college students’ideal and belief education. Through the study of the local cultural resources and thetheories related to the college students’ ideal and faith education, this paper tries toanalyze the significance of the local cultural resources to the ideal and beliefeducation for college students. Taking Yongzhou City in Hunan Province as anexample, this paper tries to carry out a case study of the application of localcultural resources in college students’ ideal and belief education. Yongzhou City isfamous for its red culture, Li Da’s, Tao Zhu’s stories are the examples, the moralityculture, Shun culture as well as science culture as the representative, andLiu culture and calligraphy culture with Liu Zongyuan and Monk Huai Su as therepresentative respectively. All of these have constituted the unique outstandingcultural resources. It is advisable to army the students’ mind with then red cultureto guide them to accomplish their ideal, the morality culture to shape their soul to promote the students to complete their moral cross, the Liu culture andcalligraphy culture to wash their mind and promote them to complete the orientationcross. Meanwhile, it would be beneficial to create the campus culture characterized onthe great traditional Yongzhou culture to excite the college students’ ideals andbeliefs with the infection, to promote their ideal and belief sublimation with theNetwork promotion of the rich characteristics of Yongzhou local cultural activities asthe carrier to help the students further strengthen their ideal and belief, to establishvarious thematic local cultural and educational practice bases to help develop theirideals and beliefs in experiences, to create well-known cultural tourist attractions andcreate a positive atmosphere to inherit their ideals and with pride.Taking Yongzhou culture in Hunan Province as the basis, this paper has done theequivalent exploration on the application of local cultural resources in collegestudents’ ideal and faith education, which has consequently enriched its contents andresources for the education activities.
