In modern society, serious ecological and environmental issues have beenbrought by production and lifestyle of human beings. At present the worldgenerally believe that the low-carbon and ecological production and lifestyle isthe most effective way to save the earth. With the development of agriculturalproduction and the change of the rural residents’ lifestyle, the carbon emissionsof our country will gradually catch up with the city level. In the process ofrenewal and transformation of villages. How to let the production and lifestylebecome low-carbon and ecological from the beginning of rural planning isgetting more concern. With the quickening of the urbanization process, moreand more rural residents are going away from their old yards. Traditionalvillages in our country especially north china are facing the crisis ofhollowing and decline. We can’t just sit there and watch the disappearance ofthe villages that carrying our traditional agricultural civilization in centuries andwisdom of production and lifestyle of our ancestors. We are not onlydiscovering the experience of low-carbon and ecological production and ecological from them, but also protecting and developing the preservingmemories of agricultural civilization.There are both plain and hill in the territory of Jinzhong city,Shanxiprovince. The traditional villages in plains are well-known because the cultureof Shanxi Merchants. While those in mountain area are ignored in remotelocations. They can’t avoid the hollowing and extinct in silence. Because of thecomplicated terrain, the people who build the settlement here thought uniquely.The character of the villages’ are quite distinctive. What is worth worrying isthat Shanxi is a province with a lot of coal. A lot of coal mining subsidenceareas are created by the greedy mining companies. Within the interaction ofinternal and external causes, there is little time left for the researchers. The lifequality of rural residents is need to be developed, but our traditional villages arefalling faster! The technologies and cultural heritages are disappearing faster!Dongjialing is a merchant-leading village which believe agricultureand studies both. There are fort ruins, architectures like temples and pawnshops.The location choosing, the relationships of architectures, the meaning of the oldChinese scholar trees are quite unique in the territory of Jinzhong. This papertakes Dongjialing village as an example, researches its ecological adaptabilityof climate, topography, landscape elements and architecture elements, and listssome viable development models. It also analyses the ecological adaptability ofthe traditional houses in Donjialing village. It uses software to analyses energyconsumption, shows the disadvantages of the traditional cave dwelling houses, and make renewing plans for them. Then apply the ecological strategies andenergy-saving measures of the cave house to the new rural constructions tooptimize the indoor thermal environment, to make the houses more low-carbonand ecological. I wish the research can give some good advices to theprotection and development of the traditional villages in the mountain areas ofJinzhong. And I hope they can be developed in the protection, and live long inthe development.
