In the era of big data, data grows rapidly and information technology emerge in endlessly, also information increases with geometric series. It’s becoming a problem about how to collect information and better process and use information. University students, as the major knowledge group in today’s society, also the national reform and innovation and the reserve talented person, must have the good information literacy to adapt to the development demands of the bid data society. Private universities are an important export base of social talents. In terms of private colleges, it is one of the subjects worth exploring that about how to deal with rapid changes of the social information to improve the level of students’ information literacy in the era of big data.University students’ information literacy as one of important parts of the students’ comprehensive quality, its development in our country have a certain foundation. In this paper, we constructed the evaluation model through the establishment of the credit rating index system of private university students’ information literacy, and we made an empirical study on students’ information literacy of four private colleges in Hunan province, to find the deficiencies and defects of private university students’ information literacy, which can be based on to finally put forward the promotion strategies. The main research content of this paper which researched promotion strategy of the information literacy of university students in big data era is shown in the following four points:(1) The theoretical foundation of ascension of private university students’ information literacy in big data era. In this research we laid the theoretical foundation through in-depth analysis of the related concept of big data, the basic theory of university students’ information literacy, the information literacy education and ability standards, then proposing the challenge to information literacy in the era of big data, also the meaning of enhancing private university students’ information literacy.(2) The evaluation index system of university students’ information literacy in the era of big data. We built the index system by combining with the requirements of the era of big data information for university students, using for reference of the selection of information literacy indicators in related fields to target stronger indexes, and then using the expert investigation method. The weights were determined from two angles of experts and university students.(3) The empirical study of private university students’ information literacy in the big data era. Taking four private universities in Hunan province as the object of empirical study, we stated each situation of university students’ information literacy, and answered to the information literacy problems.(4) The promotion strategies of private university students’ information literacy in the big data era.We researched out promoting countermeasures of private university students’ information literacy in big data era through the evaluation of empirical research and the analysis of information literacy problems.
